into fights he just lets them hit them and if he does fight back he harms the person heavily because of this and becomes very upset and depressed. He also faces challenges involving him running into the law and rules because of his little understanding of what is right and wrong causing him to often get into trouble or injour someone. one of these challenges is explored in the first oages of the book where he is accused of rape causeing him to be chassed by people tring to capture or kill him. this was when he saw a girl in a pretty red dress and wanted to pat it, this is as he likes patting things which are soft and he thinks feels nice which is explored through out the book. andother run into the law is when he accidently kills curlys (the boss of the ranch they were working at son) wife causing him to be hunted down and killed. this also was a challenge as it ended his dream of buying a house with goerge on a land where they would keep different animals and also have a farm and rabits which he would get to tend.
